“ Our experience was extremely pleasant. Penny, our waitress, was one of the best waitresses weve had in the past few years anywhere. She was very polite, personable, made sure the timing was right between our appetizer and meal which rarely happens, and we never wanted for anything! All this without being constantly interrupted. Im telling you, ask for Penny to wait on you! The food.... The raw oysters during our visit were some of the best weve had since we attended a very high end restaurant in SC, maybe even better. Clean, large, and just delicious! The shrimp and grits were great, my broiled flounder was wonderful, and the hush puppies were superb. If I had to give any advice to the chef my broiled shrimp were just slightly over broiled. ”

“ he Sanitary is a regular stop on our beach vacations. We usually have a large group, and this historic establishment can accommodate many people. The food at The Sanitary is consistently good, with the hush puppies being a perennial favorite. During our most recent visit, we noticed some changes to the menu from our previous visits. While its not always the fanciest food, the restaurant stays true to its roots with freshcaught specials and triedandtrue combination platters. The prices are reasonable. Remember to leave with a Tshirt, a unique souvenir that will remind you of your delightful dining experience at The Sanitary! As soon as we entered the building, the restaurant smelled very clean. There were plenty of seating options, and we were immediately seated on the Port Deck. The chairs were relatively comfortable, the tables were very roomy, and the floors and walls had a soothing rustic vibe. The bathrooms were also spotless. Our server, whom I believe is named Christie, read us the specials before we ordered without needing to be asked. Our server ensured everyones food was prepared correctly and tasted as expected. The hush puppies came out hot and delectable. My party ate multiple baskets. After much debate over what would occupy the spot of my main dish, my wife had crab cakes with shrimp, and I had stuffed flounder. They didnt disappoint they were both excellent options, and the servings were quite generous. The portions were large, and nobody was left hungry. The key lime pie was a fantastic dessert choice and satisfied me. This dinner was flawless, and I strongly recommend this restaurant. ”

“ Went to lunch with my son and we really enjoyed ourselves! The view and fresh salt air was just what we needed! My son ordered the kids tenders and fries. I ordered the shrimp and crab potato with side salad. My son said his food was great and mine was as well. Both came out fresh and hot and in a timely manner. Servers were so friendly! Only disappointment was no crab legs. ”

“ I spent 60 crab cake, had no taste. Whatsoever flounder fried flounder was boring. Taste. The hush poppies were hard as a rock. The call slaw was watery, an ice cold french fries were cold. I still left a 10 12 tip. It was not worth going. They also charge four dollars for a glass of soda, which was mostly ice. ”

“ Ive been coming here since I was born 88 with my family and my family has been coming since it was originally Tonys dating back to the 30s. They have always been the place to go to in the area. About 10 year ago they went through a pretty bad phase with low quality food and low portions not worth the price. Now they are back to perfection and I fully recommend. Everything Ive tried there is good. I will continue to bring one day my kids and grandkids here just as my grandfather did Capt. Macon Snowden. Also, get their calamari, you will thank me later Update Still good! This time got the shrimp quesadilla, and it is very good! ”

“ We loved our visit! Debbie was amazing, she had worked there for more than 35 years. Service was phenomenal, she was funny and lovely! My oysters were huge and delicious. The view from the back deck was awesome watching the boats come back to dock at sunset. This place is a treasure. ”

“ Samantha our waitress was awesome. Catered to all our needs. I had the combination bluefish, bay scallops, shrimp. I dont know what kind of seasoning or breading they used on it but I loved it. That bluefish was the best piece of fish Ive had in years I eat seafood a lot. We sat outside as the boats passed. Environment is family friendly. Please check them out ”
